Tropical Cyclone Yasi
It has been a few years since my last Tropical Cyclone update on Semaphore Junction. From Christmas 2010 to the beginning of 2011 has been an interesting time for Australia in regards to natural disasters. In the space of a month we've been able to break records of heat and floods and now
we're waiting with bated breath of the largest cyclone to hit Queensland, that will signify distorted weather patterns throughout this nation as this monster bears down on the Queensland coast makes landfall. Currently a Category 4 Severe Tropical Cyclone, capable of wind gusts of 250km/h with a eye 100 kilometres wide and the storm approximately 500 kilometres wide. There is a
possibility that this storm could indeed reach Category 5 strength before making landfall tonight (Wednesday 2 Feb) with wind gusts of up to 300 km/h. With 3/4 of Queensland already affected by the devastating floods, there is a strong likelihood that after TC Yasi, all of Queensland will have been affected by flooding during a short space of time. Once again, I really wish all my prayers and wishes to those who will be affected by TC Yasi.
